What it is
TypeScript is WebGrow24's default language for every project, without exception. We run strict mode on all builds. TypeScript is a superset of JavaScript that adds compile-time type checking, enabling us to catch bugs before they reach production rather than debugging them in the browser console at 2 AM during a client demo. The type system is structural, meaning types are compatible based on their shape rather than their name, which makes incremental adoption practical in existing JavaScript codebases. We use TypeScript's utility types, template literal types, and conditional types to build expressive APIs that make illegal states unrepresentable. For Indian SMBs, TypeScript's tooling quality matters in a different way: VS Code's IntelliSense, inline error messages, and refactoring tools reduce the ramp-up time when a client's in-house team takes over a project we built. TypeScript also forces us to think carefully about data boundaries, which matters when integrating third-party APIs that return loosely typed JSON. Indian payment gateways, logistics APIs, and GST filing services all return inconsistent data shapes, and TypeScript's strict mode catches those mismatches at build time rather than at runtime when a transaction fails. We skip TypeScript only on quick prototypes where the speed of iteration outweighs long-term maintainability, and even then we write JSDoc annotations to get partial type safety.
Use cases
- All web and mobile projects by default
- APIs with complex request/response schemas
- Shared type definitions between frontend and backend
- Refactoring large codebases safely
- Integrations with third-party APIs and webhooks
- Form and validation logic with inferred types
- Real-time applications with typed WebSocket messages
Integration patterns
Common integrations WebGrow24 connects with TypeScript:
- ts-node (TypeScript execution for Node.js scripts)
- tsx (TypeScript REPL and runner)
- Zod (runtime validation with TypeScript inference)
- tRPC (type-safe APIs)
- Prisma (type-safe database queries)
- Drizzle ORM (SQL-like typed queries)
- Vitest (TypeScript-native test runner)
- Vite (TypeScript-aware build tool)
- TypeScript ESLint (linting with type awareness)
- TS-Pattern (exhaustive pattern matching)
