What it is
Google Analytics 4 is WebGrow24's default analytics platform for marketing sites, lead generation portals, and content sites where understanding traffic sources and conversion funnels drives business decisions. GA4's event-based model replaces the session-based model of Universal Analytics, which means we track individual user interactions rather than aggregated pageviews, giving Indian SMB clients a more accurate picture of how users actually engage with their sites. The free version covers what most Indian SMBs need: traffic sources, top landing pages, conversion events for form submissions or phone clicks, and audience segments based on behaviour. For sites targeting Indian cities, GA4's geo-reporting at the city level helps clients understand whether their digital marketing spend is reaching Tier 1 metros or Tier 2 cities where their actual customers are. We install GA4 via the gtag.js script with a strict consent mode that respects user privacy choices before setting analytics cookies, which is increasingly important as India's data protection regulations tighten. The GA4 BigQuery export is available for clients who need raw event-level data for custom analysis beyond the GA4 interface. We avoid GA4 for product analytics where PostHog's session recording and feature flags are more useful, and for privacy-sensitive applications where a cookieless analytics solution is more appropriate.
