B2B SaaS funnel that converts Indian founders

The five-stage B2B SaaS funnel we use for Indian SMB clients. Covers awareness, capture, nurture, conversion and expansion. Includes templates and metrics.

B2B SaaS funnel that converts Indian founders

Most B2B SaaS funnels are built for US buyers. They do not fit Indian founders.

Indian founders do their research first. They compare options. They ask for discounts. They want WhatsApp support.

The sales cycle is short: 7 to 30 days. But the decision is price-sensitive. The funnel has to reflect that.

Stage 1: awareness

The goal is to show up when an Indian founder is searching for a solution.

These channels work in India:

SEO with long-tail keywords is the base. Indian founders search in English with some Hindi mixed in. LinkedIn is strong for B2B reach. Founder-led posts get 2 to 3x more engagement than corporate posts. YouTube works for both short and long video. Twitter (X) works well for founders under 35. Instagram works only for visual products. For the on-page SEO foundation that makes organic discovery work, see our on-page SEO checklist.

For link building tactics, see our link building guide.

These channels do not work:

Cold email at scale hits spam filters fast. Facebook ads reach the wrong B2B audience. Display ads have low search intent.

Track: organic traffic, branded search volume, and LinkedIn impressions.

Stage 2: capture

The goal is to turn visitors into leads.

What works:

Free tools are powerful. Our tools hub gets 5 to 10 percent visitor-to-lead conversion. Lead magnets like checklists, playbooks and calculators work well. Add a WhatsApp click-to-chat button on every page. Offer a free audit — it gives founders a low-commitment way to start.

What does not work:

Gated demos push founders away. Indian founders want to see the product first. Long forms kill conversion — three fields maximum. Newsletter-only captures have low intent.

Track: visitor-to-lead rate, cost per lead, and lead source mix.

Stage 3: nurture

The goal is to build trust and send the right message at the right time.

WhatsApp Business is the main channel. Email is secondary. It works better for longer sequences. LinkedIn retargeting works for high-ACV products.

Our lifecycle email playbook covers the seven email sequences that work for Indian SaaS. WhatsApp-first. Email for longer nurture.

Here is a 14-day sequence for a new lead:

Day 0: send a WhatsApp welcome message. Day 2: follow up with an email that has a case study. Day 5: check in on WhatsApp and offer a free audit. Day 9: send an email with social proof. Day 14: follow up on WhatsApp with a special offer.

Track: email open rate, WhatsApp reply rate, and MQL rate.

Stage 4: conversion

The goal is to book the call, run it well, and close.

What works:

Use WhatsApp to book the call. Put a Calendly link in the message. Keep the call to 30 minutes. Indian founders are busy. Put the founder on the call. Buyers want to talk to the key person. Send the proposal within 24 hours. Follow up on WhatsApp after sending it.

See our pricing page playbook for the structure that lifts trial-to-paid conversion.

What does not work:

Cold calling fails. Indian founders do not pick up unknown numbers. Long demo decks put founders off. Hourly discovery calls waste time.

Track: call booking rate, show-up rate, close rate, and average deal size.

Stage 5: expansion

The goal is to grow the customer into a higher tier or generate referrals.

What works:

Onboarding matters. Check in on WhatsApp at day 1, day 7, and day 30. Run a quarterly business review for accounts above 1 lakh ACV. Run a referral program with 10 to 15 percent commission. Cross-sell based on how the customer uses the product.

Track: net revenue retention, referral rate, and expansion revenue.

The biggest leak

The single biggest leak in Indian SMB SaaS funnels is no WhatsApp follow-up after a demo.

Set up a WhatsApp Business template that goes out 24 hours after every demo. Attach the proposal. Include a clear next step. This one change can recover 15 to 25 percent of lost deals.
