Why your hosting should be in India
Latency, data residency, support hours, and rupees. The four reasons an Indian data center changes the experience for Indian customers.
Most Indian websites and apps are hosted on servers sitting in Virginia, Singapore, or Frankfurt. That worked fine in 2012. It works less well in 2026 when every Indian SMB needs a fast, mobile-first, Hindi-capable product.
Here are the four things that change when your hosting lives in India.
1. Latency
The physical distance between Mumbai and Singapore is roughly 5,800 km. Light in fibre takes about 30 ms each way. Add peering, routing, and a shared gateway and you are looking at 80–150 ms before any application logic runs. Move the server to Palitana, Gujarat and you are inside 25 ms of most Indian cities. That is the difference between "feels instant" and "feels laggy" on a 4G phone.
For a WordPress page with five round-trips, the difference is roughly 400 ms saved on every load. For an admin dashboard with thirty round-trips, it is closer to 2.5 seconds. Your bounce rate notices.
2. Data residency
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) 2023 sets rules about where Indian citizens' data lives. Most foreign hosts will happily store your customer database on a US server with US legal jurisdiction. If you later need a SOC 2 audit, an EU data export, or a Government of India subpoena response, you will wish the data had never left the country.
When your data lives in Palitana, the legal jurisdiction is India. Full stop. No surprises.
3. Support hours
When your host's support team is in California, "24×7" means PST. When your customer calls at 11pm IST about a WordPress site that is down before a launch, you are waiting until 9:30am California time. That is a ten-and-a-half-hour gap. We host in India. We staff in India. You get the answer in your timezone.
4. Rupees, not dollars
Most foreign hosts bill in USD with an FX layer. You see $5 on the invoice and ₹450 on your credit card statement, and the rate moved overnight. We bill in rupees. The invoice is in rupees. Your reconciliation closes cleanly.
What you give up
Honest list. An Indian data center means a single-region v1. If your primary customers are in London or New York, host there. If your primary customers are in Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Patna, host here.
How to switch
The fastest path is to deploy your app from our marketplace, point your existing domain's DNS at our load balancer, and turn on free Let's Encrypt SSL. Most migrations finish in under an hour. We do not charge for the migration. We charge you the same monthly rate we charge everyone else.
